Story as an Intervention for addressing polarities and conflict
Professionals all over the globe, find themselves operating in highly complex environments, dealing with unprecedented challenges. Most of the time, the whole field becomes an arena of problem-saturated narratives. This kind of narratives affect negatively our capabilities and energy toward connection and prosperity.
In such a field working with polarities induces a better awareness of our differences, and leverages diversity, which are essential elements for igniting a community spirit.
Polarities can be understood as a forming including two ends of a continuum, with the in-between middle space staying underdeveloped and/or underrepresented.
Stories in various formats can shape a safe enough container for deep and non-judgmental listening, which could prime mostly the underdeveloped in-between space with alternative narratives. This allows conversations to emerge in a respectful way that makes meaning for both poles’ identities. In this way, it opens up the field for a multiplicity of new perspectives and possibilities.
